Flexible work hours
Introduction
“Time has
become more flexible as we moved into the 21st century, which is a big challenge
for HR
managers.
Due to the advancement of technology and many other reasons, people nowadays
prefer to work
from home. The internet has given birth to a virtual world and market
place.
Although flexible work arrangements have tremendous benefits at the same
time it is
going to
increase the level of stress on management & workforce that has to be dealt with well by
21st-century managers (Anderson, 2002). With flexible work
arrangements, HR
professionals
need to monitor regularly the successes in various projects and challenges
faced
during the
period. This can help to take better measures regarding flexible work
arrangements
in the future”.
Nasir,S.Z. (2017)
According
to dan-marzullo (2018) "There are many types of flexible work arrangements, and
choosing the right one can make a big difference. Whether you’re a manager or a
job seeker, it’s important to know the differences between the various types of
flex arrangements.
Different
setups might attract different employees or apply better to different job
descriptions. Regardless of which one you implement; each policy can help
create an idea of what behavior is expected and encouraged”.

Disadvantages
of Flexible Working Hours
“No
solution is perfect. Your team and business won’t benefit from pretending that
there are zero downsides to operating under flexible working conditions. After
all, different personalities thrive under different conditions. While some
workers might operate more efficiently under flexible conditions, some people
need the structure of set working hours to reach peak working efficiency. It’s
important to examine and understand a few key potential disadvantages to having
flexible working hours”.
Advantages
of Flexible Working Hours
“Let
it not be said that a flexible working arrangement is all bad! Far from it, in
fact. While acknowledging the pitfalls is important, it is equally useful to
fully understand the benefits that this could provide to your team. The benefits
for your employees’ stress and morale levels could very well outweigh any
potential negatives”.
Conclusion
However, flexible working arrangements are very helpful in reducing the stress of people in different social situations.
"Firstly, some previous findings on flexible working hours are examined. With the use of existing evidence, flexible working hours are considered from the employee and employer sides in order to show that flexibility in the workplace beneficial is not only for employees but for the employer as well. Secondly, existing literature on work-life balance is scanned. Stress and employee well-being are discussed as they are two key outcomes of work-life balance, one is negative and the other one is positive respectively. The literature lacks evidence of flexible working hours impacting work-life balance". Y,Rashad. (2017)
