Happy workplace environment

 Introduction

“Motivation is the force that energizes, directs, and sustains behavior. High performance is achieved by well-motivated people who are prepared to exercise discretionary effort, i.e., independently do more than is expected of them”. (Armstrong,2014, p. 169).

According to (Armstrong,2014) ‘Well-motivated people engage in positive discretionary behavior – they decide to make an effort. Such people may be self-motivated, and as long as this means they are going in the right direction to attain what they are there to achieve, then this is the best form of motivation. But additional motivation provided by the work itself, the quality of leadership, and various forms of recognition and reward, builds on self-motivation and helps people to make the best use of their abilities and to perform well”.

 

It is the environment or atmosphere in which a company’s employees work and may perceive it as emotionally favorable or unfavorable.

Impact

According to the Hafeez,I.,Yingjun,Z.,Hafee,S.,Manso,R.,Rehman,K,U. (2019) “a safe working environment, monetary packages, and the impact of rewards, training facility, recognitions, and job security have positively influenced employee’s performance”, “Haynes (2008a) argued that organization productivity can be improved by 5% to 10% by upgrading the physical design of the workplace, this increased organizational performance is actually a result of enhanced employee performance. A number of research have been conducted on the investigation of the effects of the physical environment on employee participation in work, employee performance, and loyalty towards the organization. Samaranayake and Gamage (2012) found that a positive correlation exists between job satisfaction and personal judgment of effectiveness with reference to perceived relevance to work”

“No one likes to work in a place where tension can be cut with a knife. If that is the atmosphere that is being felt in a company, it is important that we do not allow it. It is not just a matter of the company’s work dynamics being pleasant for the sake of “having a good time”: if the atmosphere is tense or toxic in a lasting way, the psychological well-being of staff deteriorates, performance worsens, it favors the loss of talent, and everyone loses out when these consequences can usually be avoided” ( Rodríguez, R.S.R.2021 Ifeel [online]

Conclusion

According to the (HRShelf,2022) online website “In conclusion, a positive and happy workplace environment leads to more success in the long term as it increases positive emotions and well-being. As the employees are able to develop better relationships with each other and come out of stress easily, they are able to boost their abilities and creativity, bringing out the best in their teams. And finally, when the organization is filled with employees who are happy, positive, and more loyal – a higher level of organizational effectiveness is achieved”.
